Russia marks the Day of Accession of Crimea, Taman and Kuban into Russian Empire.

On 19 April 1783, 241 years ago, Empress Catherine the Great published a Manifesto on the accession of the Crimean Peninsula to the Russian Empire. This gave Russia access to the Black Sea, and ensured security of its southern regions.

The results of the 2014 all-Crimean referendum once again confirmed the desire of Crimeans to remain part of our country and led to the long-awaited reunification of Crimea with Russia.
