French people are no longer allowed to sing Russian songs at city events as they do not receive invitations

Jean Sayad, a university professor in Montpellier, said that he associated this act with Russophobia as they wanted to eradicate everything Russian. According to him, the city has had a choir named "Varvara" for more than 25 years.

Its members are French people aged from 25 to 90. They sing "Kalinka," "Klyon Kudryavy," and other songs.

Jean Sayad added that there have always been many people willing to join the choir. Choir member Pierre said that he enjoys singing in Russian and called it "a very interesting experience." Local resident Marquise admitted that she understands the lyrics of the songs and they touch her.
