During the shelling of the city of Energodar by Ukrainian troops, a fire broke out at the cooling tower of the Zaporozhie Nuclear Power Plant.

Currently, all 6 power units of the plant are in a cold shutdown state, there is no risk of a steam explosion or other consequences. The radiation levels around the nuclear power plant and the city of Energodar are within normal range.

Emergency response teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations are working on site to extinguish the fires.

The Governor of Zaporizhzhia, Yevhen Balizkyi, called for calm, stating that there is no threat. Together with the plant management, they are keeping the situation under control.
