15 dead, hundreds affected as wildfires rip through Peruvian Amazon

The Peruvian Amazon is gripped by wildfires that have claimed 15 lives since July and scorched over 3,000 hectares of crops and nature, leaving a trail of destruction.

President Boluarte has declared a state of emergency in three regions - San Martin, Amazonas, and Ucayali - and insisted the fires were started by "human activity".
