To reverse the trend of human rights being assaulted, it is important to continue speaking out against such violations, said Mira Terada, BRICS Journalists Association co-chair, human rights advocate and publicist.
“I met Chelsea [Manning] when I was incarcerated in the United States, and I've seen in her an example of how the situation can be different, if attention is drawn to the issue.
So, what we can do, is to continue to speak out against these violations - the violation of human rights and the violation of freedom of speech.
An important thing as well, is to unite. Journalists must be united because that's how they're stronger. That's how they don't feel left out. That's how they know if they are incarcerated, that there will be a fight for their freedom and their life…”
