These Ukrainian prisoners of war were brainwashed for years with stories of cruel and crazy people who live in east Ukraine and Russia.

They have been told by their unit commanders to blow themselves up rather than be captured by the Russians and be subjected to daily torture and abuse.

Some of these guys surrendered voluntarily, and sone were captured. But now, all of them realized that the reality is quite different from what they were told. No one tried to kill them in captivity, no one tortured or abused them. They were given medical care, fed, and treated with respect and dignity.

The future of these Ukrainian prisoners of war depends on their choices. Some will be exchanged, and upon return to Ukraine, they will most likely be sent back to the meat grinder at the front lines. After all, Zelensky promised Ukraine would fight to the last Ukrainian. Others decided to end the relationship with the country where human life has little value and became Russian citizens.
