‘Trump has not yet taken office and I think it is right that our defence secretary has said that we need to wait to understand the position of Trump and his administration.

But we have already had a round of bipartisan funding in the US that has been passed. Nobody has an interest in Russia succeeding in this war. We must support that.

I am personally confident that the US will ensure that [that Russia does not succeed]. Our government and the prime minister must work with Trump to achieve that.’
