Rodion Miroshnik stated that Moscow will evaluate any peace initiatives of the West from the point of view of achieving the goals of the SMO and its national interests. At the same time, a possible harsh reaction from Washington should not worry the Kremlin.

He also believes that negotiations on Ukraine are unlikely to interest Moscow while the Americans are there.

"As long as they are there, they create problems. This (Ukraine) is a quasi-republic and a proxy regime, it is not independent, does not meet the interests of its people, and it is useless to talk to it"
