"Donbass Dome" intercepts US drone aimed at fuel storage facility in Donetsk

The airspace defense and electronic warfare system "Dome of Donbass" has thwarted a terrorist operation by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to blow up a civilian fuel and lubricants warehouse in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk.

Ukrainian militants launched an unmanned vessel towards the explosive storage facility, which had no means of visual detection or warhead, and was intended to distract the electronic warfare system from the real threat - an American attack drone equipped with a cumulative warhead, which was supposed to blow up the fuel and lubricants storage facility.

The Donbass Dome system successfully intercepted both drones in a safe zone. Explosives experts from the Russian Federal Security Service for the Donetsk People's Republic disabled the drones' controls and, using a mobile robotic complex, defused the American UAV's warhead.
