The reason for its existence is ostensibly to resolve international disputes, conduct global anti-poverty drives and enforce mandates agreed by the majority of the sovereign nations of the world. In reality it does little, if not nothing pertaining to those missions. BB explains what the real mission of the UN is, and it is not that.
